Who we are
Fox Skylights Leicester installs and replaces skylights and rooflights for homes and small businesses within about 30 miles of Leicester. This website is foxskylightsleicester.co.uk. For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Fox Skylights Leicester is the controller of the personal data described here.
We are a service-area business. We come to you, so there is no public premises to visit and we do not publish a postal address. You can reach us by phone on 0116 430 0516, by email at info@foxskylightsleicester.co.uk or on WhatsApp at 07880 284133.
What personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to answer an enquiry, survey your roof, quote the work and carry it out.
- Enquiry details: your name, email address, mobile number and the address of the property, plus anything you tell us about the roof, the opening you have in mind and your timing.
- Photos and measurements: pictures of your roof or ceiling that you choose to send, and the measurements we take at survey.
- Job records: your written quote, the agreed specification, the dates of work, any deposit and payment details as they appear in our records, and the paperwork for your 10-year workmanship guarantee.
- Messages: the content of emails and WhatsApp conversations with us.
- Technical data: basic information your browser sends to the website server when a page loads, such as your IP address and device type.
We do not knowingly collect data from children, and we do not collect special category data.
How we collect it
Most of it comes from you. The enquiry form on this site is provided by a third-party customer relationship system, Mortaro CRM, which is embedded on the page. When you send the form, your name, contact details and job details are stored in that system so we can respond. If you message us on WhatsApp, the conversation runs through WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta, and we see your number and what you write. Email reaches us through our normal mail provider.
The map on the contact page uses OpenStreetMap tiles. Loading those tiles sends your IP address to the map provider so it can deliver the image. See our cookie policy for what the site does and does not store on your device.
Why we use your data and our lawful basis
UK GDPR asks us to name a lawful basis for each use.

Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only where the work needs it.
- Mortaro CRM stores enquiry records on our behalf and acts as our processor.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries WhatsApp messages under its own terms and privacy notice.
- Website hosting and email providers store and deliver the site and our mail.
- Building Control: where the work is notifiable, we handle the notification, and that means giving the property address and a description of the work to the building control body.
- Accountants, professional advisers and the authorities where the law requires it or where we need advice on a dispute.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we expect them to use a recognised safeguard, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep data only as long as there is a reason to.
- Enquiries that do not become a job: 12 months after our last contact, then deleted.
- Quotes you did not accept: 12 months from the date of the quote.
- Job records, guarantee documents and invoices: 6 years after completion, which covers tax rules and the time limit for contract claims. We keep guarantee documents for the length of the guarantee if that is longer.
- Complaint records: 6 years after the complaint is closed.
If you ask us to delete something sooner, we will do so unless the law or an open claim means we must keep it, and we will tell you if that is the case.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data, where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
- restrict how we use it while a problem is looked into;
- give you your data in a portable format, where it applies;
- stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests, and stop marketing messages at any time.
Email info@foxskylightsleicester.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp. We will normally reply within one month, and we may need to confirm who you are first. There is no charge for an ordinary request.
Security
We limit access to enquiry and job records to the people who need them, use password-protected systems and ask our providers to meet the same standard. No online system is perfectly secure, so please avoid sending bank details or ID documents by WhatsApp or email unless we have asked for them for a specific reason.
Complaining to the regulator
We would like the chance to put things right first, so please raise it with us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator. Its website is ico.org.uk, and it has a reporting form and a helpline listed there.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top. If you are in the middle of a job with us, we will tell you about any change that affects you. Questions about this policy can go to info@foxskylightsleicester.co.uk.
