What happens after you ask
We get back to you to arrange a survey at a time that suits. It is free. On the visit we look at the roof from outside and from the loft or the room underneath, because the timbers decide where a skylight can go as much as the tiles do.
After that you receive a fixed quote in writing. It names the rooflight or roof window we recommend, the size, where the opening sits on the slope and how the room is finished inside. It also says what we found on the roof and how we would handle it. You can take it, think about it or leave it: there is no obligation either way.
What helps us help you
A few photos save a lot of guessing. If you can, send them on WhatsApp before the survey:
- the roof from the garden or the street, showing the slope you have in mind
- the room from inside, looking up at the ceiling where the light would go
- the loft, if you can safely get a picture of the timbers
- any existing skylight you want replaced, with a close-up of the label on the frame if there is one
A line on what bothers you about the room helps as well. Too dark, too stuffy, a misted pane: it all points the survey in the right direction.
Awkward roofs welcome
If you have been told your roof won't take a light, ask us anyway. A low pitch, a purlin, a flat roof with no fall or panels on the best slope change the plan rather than end it, and our awkward roofs page shows how. If the answer really is no, you will hear it at the survey, in writing.
Where the work is notifiable, we deal with Building Control for you, and every installation carries our 10-year workmanship guarantee.
